Gooten Supports the Establishment of the Office of Manufacturing and Industrial Innovation (OMII)
by Brian Rainey on Apr. 01, 2021
Gooten, along with our US manufacturers, support the bipartisan bill introduced in the House of Representatives on March 26, 2021, to create the Office of Manufacturing and Industrial Innovation Policy (OMII) to elevate and coordinate manufacturing and industrial innovation policy.
This bill highlights the importance of ensuring the manufacturing industry continues to move forward in the United States. It is in line with the increases the industry has seen throughout the last nine months. Indeed, to move forward as an industry, we must focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
Gooten is inspired by and committed to our manufacturing partners. We have seen and are proud to be part of manufacturing innovation. Since our founding, we have also seen the need for investment in manufacturing—from reskilling to developing new technologies and updating existing approaches to industry challenges.
The Introduction of the Office of Manufacturing & Industrial Policy Act provides an important look at the impact of the pandemic on U.S. supply chains and the opportunity for improvement:
The global coronavirus pandemic exposed how vulnerable the United States has become as a result of over-reliance on international supply chains. Yet these lessons provide opportunity in both economic recovery and to reposition American manufacturing for long-term prosperity. To do this, we need an Office at the highest level to coordinate, strengthen, and rebuild America's manufacturing leadership.
We applaud the bipartisan efforts to promote U.S. manufacturing and innovation in our increasingly competitive and technology-driven industry and agree with the Act’s assertion that “manufacturing is not just America's legacy; it is our future.”
