Recommended Art File Specifications

Use these guidelines to easily create cut and sew products such as throw pillows, placemats, tea towels, etc. See full list of cut and sew products at the end of this how-to guide.

Creating Artwork in Photoshop (or other image editing software)

Create your artwork to the largest size item you plan on offering in your store. You may have to create different versions of your art if you plan on offering option values that are a different aspect ratio (square pillow vs. lumbar pillow).

When you’re designing your artwork keep important elements like text within the safe area.

You can double check this by clicking on the “print area” tab at the top of our image editor.

As you can see in the image above, the text is well within the bounds of the red area, while the black background extends all the way to the edge of the print area.

When you upload your image we automatically resize your image to fit within the print area, so you don’t need to resize any of your artwork for the different size throw pillows you plan on offering.

How it Prints

All cut and sew items are printed on a white or off-white fabric for best color accuracy.

The different fabrics have slightly different color and texture that will create small differences in color of your final printed product.

After our vendors print your artwork on a larger piece of fabric, it is then cut and sewn to the final product size.

Important Notes

  • Patterns and full-bleed images usually turn out the best.
  • Exact placement and pattern alignment is not guaranteed.
  • It’s not possible to perfectly align patterns or images from front to back.
