Print on Demand (sometimes known as PoD) is a fulfillment process where a product is only manufactured when a customer orders it, relieving merchants from the burden of inventory management and expensive equipment costs.

Before getting into the nitty-gritty of launching a PoD business, we recommend choosing a niche target audience so that you can stand out and be successful. In any business, online or not, if you try to sell to everybody, you end up selling to nobody. 

Once you’ve found your niche and have selected products that customers would be interested in purchasing, the rest is easy! Simply choose an eCommerce platform to sell on—such as BigCommerce, Shopify, Etsy, or WooCommerce—add your designs to those products, and then connect to a PoD provider like Gooten to fulfill your orders! The products that are marked as available “Worldwide’ in our Product Catalog can be shipped almost anywhere in the world with a few exceptions—here is a list of countries we cannot ship to.

Gooten is free to use—there are no upfront or hidden fees! You are only charged when a customer purchases a product from you.

Once a purchase is made from your store, the order is automatically fulfilled by a PoD provider who produces, packs, and ships that order. At Gooten, once we process your customer’s order, we systematically route it to one of the 70+ global locations in our manufacturing network so that the order is produced and shipped closest to the customer allowing for faster delivery and lower shipping costs.

Similar to most businesses, you make money with print on demand by adding a markup to the base cost of a product. Gooten is completely free to use and you are only charged once a customer places an order, meaning you’re never spending money if money hasn’t already come in.
